Quality Logo Products begins with a used laptop

Quality Logo Products was started by Bret Bonnet and Michael Wenger. The Coleman Foundation, Inc. granted them an interest-free loan. The two used old equipment and worked out of Bonnet’s basement.

The company started as a two-man operation with co-founders Michael Wenger and Bret Bonnet. The two did everything, from writing product descriptions to processing orders to learning just how to run a business!

There are now more promotional product offerings available to customers, almost 600 different and unique promo items (594 to be exact). More selection meant more variety and that meant more attention-grabbing items for our customers to pick from!

Three's a crowd! Three employees were toiling away at Quality Logo Products this year to make the company as streamlined and efficient as possible and get our customers the best products at the best prices. There were now six hands doing the work of many!

The S.S. QLP was going full steam ahead to bring as many custom products as possible to our customers. We jumped up to 1,088 promotional products available on our website and were showing no signs of slowing down, not even for lunch!

Everything big has to start small, and with five employees, Quality Logo Products was on their way to big success! The employees were still able to fit into one car for lunch runs, but they were ready to bring in some more help to really provide the best promo ordering experience possible.

Quality Logo Products made it to the big league! The Multi-Million Dollar Roundtable is a highly-praised title that’s presented to promotional product distributors reporting a sales volume of $2 million and over. You can bet there was a lot of “Wa-hoooo”-ing happening!

Accredited with the BBB (A+ rating from 2007 until now)

Who doesn’t want to hang an A+ on the kitchen refrigerator? Quality Logo Products was recognized by the Better Business Bureau for being an outstanding business customers can trust when ordering. We’ve kept this rating since and have no plans to lose it.

We were still a small operation with just six employees, but our dedication remained high. This commitment to quality service worked in our favor over the next few years as business rapidly expanded both upward and outward.

Quality Logo Products was named to Counselor Magazine’s Multi-Million Dollar Roundtable for the second year in a row. The award recognizes promotional product distributors who report more than $2 million in sales for the year. We’re proud of this achievement.

We added almost 2,000 new promo products to our lineup between 2006 and 2007. That’s nearly 100% more product, and 2,000 more awesome stress balls, water bottles, and pens to spruce up with your snazzy logo!

In 2007, Quality Logo Products had a team of nine promo-planning, logo-loving, stress ball-squeezing ninjas. This meant we could get orders out even faster and add even more products to the website. We were a lean, mean, promo product machine.

The third time’s the charm! 2007 meant seeing our name on the Counselor’s Multi-Million Dollar Roundtable list again. We love knowing that our hard work is paying off and people are recognizing all the ways we connect to customers!

Moved into a new building

New products and new employees meant moving on up out of the basement and into a new building. We were feeling pretty legit as we got more space to stretch our legs and become legendary promotional experts.

With a larger team and a larger office to call home, why not offer a larger selection of products to match? The number of items on our site crossed the 5,000 mark in 2008, making us even better at finding our customers just what they needed for their promotional giveaways.

In 2008, Quality Logo Products made the leap from nine employees to ten. We were now in double digits and finally had enough people to form a slow-pitch softball team. With our full team, we kept working toward becoming the most effective promo products distributors in the industry!

Bubba is born

It wasn’t quite the face that launched a thousand ships, but it did launch plenty of promo products orders, and we thought it was a beauty. Bubba, QLP’s smiley-faced yellow stress ball mascot, made his debut this year. Pantsless. We were so proud.

What a streak to keep going! For the fourth year in a row, QLP reported more than $2 million in sales, which meant that we again were invited to join Counselor’s Multi-Million Dollar Roundtable. We felt very King Arthur about the whole thing.

10,000 products, here we come! With 9,392 products available for custom order on our website, the air was buzzing with excitement about our impending 10,000 product milestone.

Our employee count stayed steady at 10 in 2009, which meant every single employee was a promotional rock star. We grew our marketing efforts in a big way this year, and everyone contributed to spreading the word about QLP.

Every year, Inc. lists the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the nation; the top 500 from the list are highlighted in the September issue of Inc. magazine. 2009 marked the year that we made our first appearance on this distinguished list.

Branding Beat (company blog) launched

A blog is born! In 2009, we joined the blogosphere with marketing trends, business news, promotional product planning advice, and resources for entrepreneurs. The Blog Squad is still turning out the Branding Beat, so check it out!

Quality Logo Products Facebook page launched

Facebook debuted on the internet in 2004, and Quality Logo Products joined Facebook in 2009. Fast forward to now and we have over 40,000 fans that stop by to get updated on industry news, promotional product sales, upcoming events, and marketing advice.

Quality Logo Products Twitter account started

Between birthing a blog and joining Facebook, deciding to get on Twitter rounded out our initial social strategy. We love to make friends, what can we say? Today our Tweets bring our followers the latest industry news, relevant marketing ideas, and our featured products!

For the fifth year straight, we made it onto the Counselor’s Multi-Million Dollar Roundtable list. This list features some pretty big promotional product companies, and we were pleased to be part of it again.

We blew right past 10,000 products and to 12,505! With all these options, we grew our sales team to help customers find the perfect product from all the great new mugs, pens, keychains, and stress balls available.

The numbers don't lie! In 2009 we had 10 employees, but by 2010, we had 48. We grew our team by leaps and bounds to keep up with the business of helping customers find the best products for their promotion.

Someone call the fire department! Lead411 awarded Quality Logo Products with placement on their “Hottest Companies in the Midwest” list. That’s out of all technology and media companies in the whole Midwest – how hot is that?!

All the hard work and growth happening at Quality Logo Products in 2010 led to being named in the Counselor’s Multi-Million Dollar Roundtable for the sixth year in a row.  We owe our SIX-cess to all of our great customers and awesome, dedicated team!

Here we grow again! Quality Logo Products added almost 20 new members to the team in 2011 to grow our ranks to 65 strong. A bigger sales team meant orders going out faster and more people in data entry helped us load more products to our website.

We’re ready for our close-up! Quality Logo Products launched a YouTube channel in 2011 and our media team has worked tirelessly since then to create hilarious and informational videos that show off our best-selling products, imprinting processes, and website features!

Time to break out the confetti! Our business, branding, and marketing-focused blog celebrated its second birthday in 2011 – and the blog squad also got to celebrate earning CBS Chicago’s People’s Choice Award for Most Valuable Blogger.

Employees volunteer at TAILS Humane Society

We love promotional products, but we also really love serving our community - specifically our underprivileged furry friends. Our employees volunteered alongside the staff of Tails Humane Society, cleaning cages and cuddling animals all day.

In less than a decade, we amassed more than 19,500 products on our website for our customers to choose from. This wide selection of products helped ensure a great promotional giveaway for any event, organization, or business.

Quality Logo Products added a couple more people to bring the count up to 67 dedicated employees. We certainly still take pride in what we do, and we make sure all of our team members are on board to serve our wonderful customers.

QLP broke the 20,000 product milestone on its website. To be precise, 20,650 products were available, which is hard to visualize in your head. However, that also meant more options for our customers looking for that standout promo product!

Nearly 90 people were employed at Quality Logo Products by now. We also had a few part-timers and transients wandering around our offices throughout the week, probably looking for stress balls or maybe some pants for Bubba.

QLP made the Inc. 500/5000 list of fastest-growing privately held companies for the fourth time! It was only through our loyal customers that we were able to grow so quickly over the first ten years.

“The Tattoo” QLP commercial made its debut on YouTube. On June 18, 2013, we learned some promo products get nervous before they are imprinted. However, unlike a messed up tattoo, promo products always come out looking great!

QLP adds 360-degree product views to the website

For the first time, customers were able to view every inch of products on the website with our 360-degree product views feature. If pictures are worth 1,000 words then 360-degree pictures should be worth…360,000 words?

All our fun times and hard work paid off when we made Counselor's Best Places to Work for the second year in a row! Every year ASI Central compiles the top businesses, and we're happy to receive a place on their list. We've very proud to have received this honor. 

Water Bottle and Stress Ball mascots toss the first pitch at Kane County Cougars game

Striiiiiiiikkkkkeeeeeeeeee! QLP’s Water Bottle and Stress Ball mascots tossed out the first pitch at the 2013 Labor Day Kane County Cougars game. It’s the closest anyone at QLP came to being a professional athlete.

Lead411 named QLP to its newly-rebranded Tech 200 list for the third time. As the list suggests, Lead411 lists out the top 200 privately-held companies for the year. In 2013 the average growth was around 250%. A pretty impressive list!

Expanded to second building

With nearly 90 employees, QLP quickly outgrew its building and moved into a second location about a mile away. It was a much-needed move. Plus, Bubba needed the exercise traveling between buildings to make sure we stayed on task.

The total number of products available for customization, imprints, and giveaways topped over 25,000 this year! That’s a ton of trade show swag, a lot of custom coffee mugs, and loads of stress balls!

In 2014, 83 people called QLP their work home. As always, members of every department committed themselves to cranking out great promotions and serving our customers. 

QLP website re-launches

The website redesign included some great new search options, including filters for price, delivery date, category, industry, and more. It also featured more of Bubba’s smiling face, which is always a plus.

In 2014, Promo Marketing ranked QLP on their top distributors list. This list ranks distributors by their total yearly promotional product sales, and we were excited to be recognized by this prominent marketing industry magazine!

Listed as one of Counselor's Best Places to Work (3rd Year)

2014 marked the third year that QLP showed up on the Counselor’s Best Place to Work list. We’re honored to continue being ranked as one of 90 best companies to work for in the ad specialty industry!

Held 1st Annual 'QLP Supplier Awards'

We’ve been lucky enough to receive some pretty prestigious awards over the years, so in 2014 we GAVE an award. Our suppliers are key to our success, and we toasted the top ten with Best Supplier distinction and, of course, some funky trophies.

And the numbers continued to climb! In 2015, our data entry team continued to catalog new products ready for personalization. These included selfie sticks, solar power banks, Bluetooth speakers, and custom coasters. We weren’t sure what we’d add to our collection next, but we were hoping for robots.

By the end of 2015, we had just under 100 employees all working to update our website, provide legendary customer service, and help businesses everywhere rock their marketing efforts. Here’s to triple digits in 2016!

Became an official member of the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI)

Founded in 1904, PPAI is a trade organization for the promotional products industry that has over a century’s worth of ideas and authority behind it. Okay, so QLP’s a little younger. We were still proud to join the ranks of PPAI members everywhere!

Launched the Give Your Brand a Hand Giveaway

QLP started as a small business, and we pride ourselves on continuing to champion the little guy. In 2015, we partnered with small businesses and every month awarded the best of the bunch $500 in free promotional products to help grow their brand.

We were psyched to once again clinch a spot on Promo Marketing’s Top 50 Distributor list! The distinguished honor of being on this list of the highest distributor earners in the promotional products industry is always a delight.

2015 marked the fifth time QLP made Inc. Magazine’s list of the top growing private companies in the U.S. We were beginning to understand how the Chicago Bulls felt circa 1997 – you know, after winning their fifth championship. Kind of a big deal.

Joined the Quality Certification Alliance (QCA) and received a spot on QCA's Distributor Advocacy Council (DAC)

OMG, do you like acronyms? In 2015, QLP became a member of QCA, an accreditation organization dedicated to promoting safety and quality in the promo product industry. QLP’s place on the DAC further cemented its commitment to meeting high standards.

And we were even better than before! 2015 marked the fourth time that QLP made Counselor magazine’s list of best places to work in the promo product industry. We jumped from 63^rd place in 2014 to 35^th place this year, but hey, we took it in stride.

We ended a great year by honoring some great suppliers. Our entire organization voted on their favorite supplier and to thank our vendors for being so great to work with, we made custom, one-of-a-kind trophies to award to the top ten!

Employees volunteer at TAILS Humane Society

In a continued effort to connect with our community, QLP sent over 20 of their employees as volunteers to help out at a local animal shelter, the TAILS Humane Society. We cleaned cages, pet puppies, and cuddled cats to help make a difference for our furry friends.

Bubba has friends in high places! He pulled a few strings and got us a speaking engagement at IRCE 2016, the e-commerce industry’s leading conference and trade show. It was a great opportunity to speak with industry peers and share our two cents on the challenges of online retail. Believe it or not, it’s pretty challenging!

President Bret Bonnet was invited to speak with Steve Bertrand on WGN's Wintrust Business Lunch. The two sat down and had a candid conversation about No Surprise Pricing and all the hidden fees that unfortunately exist in the promotional products industry. As a token of our appreciation, we hooked the WGN team up with custom water bottles and messenger bags featuring their logo.

The team all gathered on a hot summer's day at Naperville's ribfest. In partnership with the Naperville Exchange Club, we handed out over 10,000 sunglasses to guests and later enjoyed delicious BBQ and a live performance by Steven Tyler!

Created a Scholarship for NCC

Founders of Quality Logo Products, Bret Bonnet and Michael Wenger, met and dreamed up their business idea at North Central College in Naperville. It only made sense to give back to their alma mater in a big way! Any student majoring in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management can apply for $2,000 through the Dr. Gary Ernst Entrepreneurial Scholarship Fund presented by www.qualitylogoproducts.com.

Started Hope Chest Toy Drive

To gear up for the holidays, Quality Logo Products partnered with local businesses to support the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. This inspiring non-profit collects donations of toys, coloring books, clothes, gift cards, and more. These items are then chosen from a treasure chest for kids and teens battling cancer. 

Donated Teddy Bears (2nd Year)

This was our second year in a row donating over 200 teddy bears to Blackberry Farm's Holiday Express Special Needs Night. We love coming through with huggable friends for the holidays!

There are thousands of businesses in the Chicagoland area, which is why we were over the moon to hear we made Chicago Tribune's list of the Best Places to Work in 2019. We celebrated this milestone achievement the only way we know how - snacks, good conversation, and Moscow Mules in the office.

Print+Promo, an industry publication, released a list of top 50 distributors in the United States. Quality Logo Products was extremely happy to be ranked #17 on the list. In an industry with over 30,000 distributors, that's definitely not too shabby! 

Website 5.0 Launches

Website 5.0 was a top to bottom redesign of our interface, meant to bring you a better online experience. This new web design includes intermediate categories that help you find what you need faster and a shopping cart that keeps your purchases organized. 

Over 1K PPE Products

As Americans slowly started going back to work during the COVID-19 pandemic, we met the demand for safety equipment with over 1,000 new PPE products. This included essentials like custom face masks, hand sanitizer, plexiglass shields, thermometers, nitrile gloves, and more!

It was a crazy year, but the Advertising Specialty Institute still released their annual top distributor list. With over 30,000 distributors in the industry, it was an honor to be ranked #38!

Record Breaking Sale

It was an honor to work with Cabela’s/Bass Pro Shop on their custom hot cocoa mugs. Every customer who signed up for their credit card got one as a free promotional gift! This was a record breaking order for QLP in 2020.

Another year, another power ranking on ASI's list of Top 40 Promotional Products Distributors on the United States! Even after the craziness of the pandemic, we managed to squeak in at the number 38 spot. Next year we're going for gold!

Donated Teddy Bears to Holiday Express

The Holiday Express at Blackberry Farm, hosted by the Fox Valley Park District, is full of Christmas spirit! Quality Logo Products proudly supports this event every year with the donation of custom teddy bears, which Santa hands out to all his visitors on Special Needs Night.
